Solution

(d) Cytoplasm is called as protoplasm

The word Protoplasm is derived from the Greek word “protos” meaning first and “plasma” meaning “things formed”. Protoplasm is considered as the physical basis of life. The protoplasm of a cell consists of a nucleus, cell membrane, and the cytoplasm. Thus, cytoplasm is a part of the protoplasm of a cell. Cytoplasm and protoplasm are cell suspensions and provide a site for biological processes to take place. The protoplasm is bound by a plasma membrane or cell membrane on all sides whereas the cytoplasm is a substance which is present surrounding the nucleus of a cell.
