Area of shaded region $=$ Area of square $-$ Area of two semicircles
Area of square $ABCD$ $=14\times 14$ $=$ $196c{m}^2$
Area of two semicircles $=$ Area of 1 complete circle $=\frac{22}{7}\times 7\times 7$ $=154c{m}^2$
$\therefore$ Area of shaded region $=$ $196-154$ $=42$ $c{m}^2$
