Let $A(2,3)$ and $B(4,1)$ be the points of a straight line.

$AB=\sqrt{{(x_2-x_1)}^2+{(y_2-y_1)}^2}$

$AB=\sqrt{{(4-2)}^2+{(1-3)}^2}$

$=\sqrt{2^2+{(-2)}^2}$

$=\sqrt{4+4}=\sqrt{8}=2\sqrt{2}$units.
