The correct option is A 25 cm
The given spring problem can be converted easly to string problem as shown
Here, the spring force kx will be equal to the tension T in the string

So, we can find the acceleration of the system as
a=supporting Force- opposing forceTotal mass
=5g3g8=g4 m/s2

Hence from the FBD of 5 kg mass we have 5gT=5aT=5(ga)=5(3g4)N
T=kxkx=15 g4x=1504×150=0.25 m=25 cm.
