Question

Find the equation of the right bisector of the line segment joining the points (a, b) and (a1, b1).

Solution

Any line which is right bisector to another line segment passes through the mid-point of end-points and is perpendicular to it.

          mid point of (a, b) and (a1, b1) is

(x1y1) = (a+a12,b+b+12)

Slope of line (m) = b1ba1a

Slope of required line is m=aa1ba1

Equation of required line is

yy1=m(xx1)

y(b+b12)=aa1bb1(xa+a12)

2x(a1a)+2y(b1b)+a2+b2(a21+b21)=0
