Find the number of ways to give 16 different things to three persons  A,B,C so that B gets 1more thanA and C gets 2 more than B


Solution

let the items given to A be x
B = A + 1 = x + 1
C = B + 2 = x + 1 + 2 = x + 3

A + B + C = 16
3x + 4 = 16
x =4
therefore A = 4 B  = 5 C = 7

number of ways to distribute = 16!/(4! x 5! x 7!)
