524 + 61 = 585 and it is not an even number.
By adding 1 to it, we get 586 which is an even number and hence it is divisible by 2.

By adding 3 to it, we get 588 which is again an even number and hence it is divisible by 2.

Clearly, the smallest number that should be added to (524 + 61) to make it divisible by 2 is 1.
