Foot and Mouth Disease Control Programme (FMD CP) was initiated in 2004 by the government (DAHD&F) in 54 districts of the country. The programme aims at providing 100% vaccination twice a year. It has been decided to extend the programme to whole of India during 12th plan subjected to availability of funds and vaccines. This being a 100% Centrally sponsored scheme, the Government of India, bears the entire expenditure incurred under this programme for vaccination of livestock like cattle, buffaloes, pigs, sheep and goats etc
