Question

For the reaction
N2+3H22NH3
and 12N2+32H2NH3
write down the expression for equilibrium constant Kc and Kc. How is Kc related to Kc?

Open in App
Solution

For the equation N2+3H22NH3
Kc=[NH3]2[N2][H2]3...(1)
For equation 12N2+32H2NH3
Kc=[NH3][N2]1/2[H2]3/2...(2)
Taking square of the expression for Kc, we get
(Kc)2=[NH3]2[N2][H2]3
This is equal to the expression for Kc.
Thus, Kc=(Kc)2
or Kc=Kc
