Generally fossil found in older rock are simpler type found in newer rock are complex ,why?

Fossil remains have been found in rocks of all ages. Fossils of the simplest organisms are found into the older rock and more complex facile of organisms found in the newer rocks. This supports the theory of evolution, which states that simple life forms gradually evolved into more complex ones.
