Question

Give an example in which the following energy conversion takes place. (a) Electrical energy to kinetic energy (b) chemical energy to electrical energy.

Open in App
Solution

(a) Electric energy to kinetic energy

  1. Kinetic energy is the energy possessed by an object due to its motion.
  2. When the switch is turned ON, electric current flows and makes the motor in the fan rotate which in turn rotates the fan blades.

Hence Fan is an example of the conversion of electrical energy to kinetic energy.

(b) Chemical energy to electrical energy

  1. Chemical energy is stored in the cell or battery.
  2. A potential difference is generated by the chemical reactions inside the cell and due to this potential difference, charge flows when we connect it to an electric appliance.

Hence cell is an example of the conversion of chemical energy to electrical energy.
