Solution

(i) Zinc sulphate is prepared by reacting zinc with dilute sulphuric acid. The equation is as follows:

Zn + H2SO4 → ZnSO4 + H2

(ii) Copper sulphate is prepared by reacting copper oxide with dilute sulphuric acid. The equation is as follows:

CuO + H2SO4 → CuSO4 + H2O

(iii) Sodium sulphate is formed by reacting sodium metal or sodium carbonate with dilute sulphuric acid. The equation is as follows:

Na2CO3 + H2SO4 → Na2SO4 + H2O + CO2
2Na + H2SO4 → Na2SO4 + H2

(iv) Lead metal or lead carbonate reacts with dilute sulphuric acid to form lead sulphate. The equation is as follows:

Pb + H2SO4 → PbSO4 + H2
PbCO3 + H2SO4 → PbSO4 + H2O + CO2
