Question

Hari bought $$20\ kg$$ of rice at $$Rs. 36\ per\ kg$$ and $$25\ kg$$ of rice at $$Rs. 32\ per\ kg$$. He mixed the two verities and sold the mixture at $$Rs. 38\ per\ kg$$. Find his gain per cent in the whole transition.

Solution

Amount spent in buying $$20kg$$ of rice$$20\times Rs.36= Rs.720$$
Amount spent in buying $$25kg$$ of rice $$25\times Rs.32= Rs.800$$
Total amount spent $$CP=Rs.(720+800)=Rs.1520$$.
Total quantity of rice$$=(20+25)kg=45kg$$
$$SP=45\times Rs.38=1710$$
Profit$$\%=\cfrac{1710-1500}{1500}\times 100=12.5\%$$
Gain$$=12.5\%$$.
