Question

How an axillary and apical meristems remain unaffected when whole plant is infected?

Open in App
Solution

Meristem is a rapidly dividing region which make it difficult for the virus to use the machinery of such rapidly dividing cells. Viruses are not able to cope up with the dividing speed of the meristmatic cells. Hence, axillary and apical meristems remain unaffected when whole plant is infected.
