Solution

Dear student,
Somaclones are produced by the "Plant Tissue Culture" technique. Here, the part of the plant that exhibits totipotency is taken as an explant. This explant is kept in an artificial medium having organic & inorganic nutrients along with growth hormones required for plant growth. This explant goes on a to became a fully mature plant.
Somatic hybrids, are the output of the somatic hybridization where two naked protoplasts from two different plant come together to to form a hybrid.
Somaclones are named so as they are identical to the plant, whose explant was taken to give rise to the new plant in tissue culture.
