  1. D.C. motor is a device that converts electric current into mechanical energy.
  2. The coil present in dc motor experiences maximum force at 0οand 180οand no force at 90ο and 270ο.
  3. Due to this, the motor experiences the jerky motion.
  4. In order to have smoother circular motion, a number of coils having many turns are wound on the same soft iron core at an angle of a few degrees to each other.

Therefore, when the magnetic couple tends to weaken in one coil, it becomes maximum in the other coil. This converts jerky motion into uniform circular motion.
