Open in App
Solution

Interrelation of exchange of gases between plants and animals:

  1. The major way through which gases are exchanged is simple diffusion.
  2. Gases are exchanged externally at the surface of the alveoli of the lungs.
  3. Gases are exchanged internally at the tissue surface.
  4. Animals release carbon dioxide into the surrounding atmosphere and take up oxygen while respiration.
  5. Whereas plants release oxygen and consume carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
  6. Animals require oxygen for survival and energy production.
  7. And plants require carbon dioxide for the process of photosynthesis to synthesize their food.
  8. Hence, due to this plants and animals are related to one another for the exchange of gases in the atmosphere.
