Question

How does average velocity differ from instantaneous velocity? Explain with a velocity time??
graph

Solution

Dear student,
Average velocity is defined as the total displacement upon total time .it doesn't matter how the motion takes place either it comes at rest or what ever.
Instantaneous velocity is the velocity at the instant means the it's definition is in the context of time for what time u are asking velocity .the speedometer tells u instantaneous velocity.
From velocity time graph the difference is the graph shows the variation of the instantaneous velocity and if you want to find the average velocity for a certain time period then find the area under graph for that time period that is displacement and divide by the time period .that's the average velocity.
