Question

How does resistance of a conductor depends upon its temperature?

Open in App
Solution

When temperature of a conductor is increased the individual atoms will be getting lot of energy and this will cause the atoms and molecules to collide on each other.

This random collision of molecules will lead to restriction of flow of electrons through the conductor [electricity is nothing but the flow of electrons through a conductor], & as a result the ability to conduct electricity through the conductor will reduce, & that's what we called as the resistance of the conductor. Resistance hence will increase with temperature.
