How has the study of fossils helped in convincing scientists that organisms have come into existence through evolution? How can the age of fossil be determined?

Fossil helps in the evolutionary study in many ways:-

• They preserve the remains of ancient species.

• They establish the evolutionary traits between present organisms and ancestors.

• It establishes time period relation between the living organisms.

The most important are Relative Dating, in which fossils and layers of rock are placed in order from older to younger, and Radiometric Dating, which allows the actual ages of certain types of rock to be calculated.
