Question

How is rain formed? How does it differ from snow?

Open in App
Solution

Rain formation is a movement of water between the surface and atmosphere. In this cycle different processes such as evaporation, condensation and precipitation take place. Firstly water evaporates from the surface to the and reaches to the atmosphere in the form of vapours. Water vapours rises up in atmosphere and condense to form clouds which is called as condensation process. As the condensation process proceeds, water droplets starts to accumulate and fall down as rain. The formation of water droplet is called as precipitation.

At very low temperature, water freezes and fall down in the form of tiny white crystals of ice called snow.
