How many moles of Fe2+ ions are formed, when excess of iron is treated with 50 mL of 4.0 M HCl under inert atmosphere? Assume no change in volume.

Here the number of moles of H2O is n=4M×0.05L=0.2mol
the reaction is as follows,
Fe+2HClFe+2+H2+2Cl
Hence, 2mol of HCl is required to convert Fe to Fe+2
Number of moles of Fe+2=12×0.2mol=0.1mol
