How silk is obtained from cocoon?

Open in App
Solution

Dear .Student,

Silkworms are cultivated on the mulberry leaves. Once they start pupating in their coccons, cocoons are collected and boiled or exposed to the steam. The fibres start separating out. This process is called reeling. Firther, these fibres are spun to obtain the threads. The thread is woven to make a fabric.
