Question

i current flows through a circuit when 10 cells are connected in series. How many same cells should be connected in parallel to get the same current

Open in App
Solution

In a series circuit of cells the current through each cell will be same ,but the total potential difference will be the sum of potential difference of individual cell

so current flowing through each cell is i.
So each cell has a current i.

Now in a parallel circuit of cells the potential difference across the cells will be the same ,but the total current will be the sum of the current of individual cell.

So to get a current i we need not connect the cells in parallel. Just a single cell is enough.

If we connect these cells in parallel the current keeps on adding.
