In the following figure, find the area of the shaded portion:

Here, AB = 18 cm, BC = 10 cm, AF = 6 cm, AE = 10 cm and BE = 8 cm
We know that,
Area of a rectangle = length x breadth
Area of a triangle = 12×base×height
Now, area of shaded portion CDFE
= Area of rectangular ABCD - (Area of Δ FAE + area of Δ EBC)
=(AB×BC)(12×AE×AF+12×BE×BC)
=(18×10)(12×10×6+12×8×10)
=180(30+40)
= 18070 = 110 cm2
