Solution

The correct option is B Mikhail Gorbachev
Mikhail Gorbachev was born on 2 March, 1931, in Privolnoye, Russia. He was appointed as the President of Soviet Union in 1990. As the President, he introduced reformist policies to democratise the polical system and decentralise the economy of Soviet Union. However, his policies eventually led to the disintegration of Soviet Union in 1991. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 for ending the post-war political domination of Soviet Union over Eastern Europe. He resigned as the President of Soviet Union in 1991.
