Insulin – Diabetes mellitus
Diabetes insipidus is caused due to deficiency of ADH or vasopressin. These patients have extremely dilute urine, with low levels of electrolytes and excretory products in comparison to water content. This is because of diminished reabsorption of water by the kidneys.
Ovulation occurs under the influence of luteinizing hormone of anterior pituitary gland. Thus, deficiency of luteinizing hormone results in failure of ovulation. Diabetes mellitus occurs due to deficiency of insulin (secreted from pancreas). Excess of growth hormone causes gigantism. Deficiency of thyroxine causes cretinism in children.
