Question

If 1 P× P_____Q 6_____
where Q - P = 3, then find the values of P and Q .

Open in App
Solution

We have, 1 P× P_____Q 6_____, and Q - P = 3
Here, P×P is 6, so the value of P is either 4 or 6.

But if P = 4, then Q = (1×P) + 1 = (1×4)+1 = 4+1=5, which does not satisfy the relation Q - P = 3.

Hence, P = 6 and then Q = (1×P) + 3 = (1×6)+3 = 6 +3 = 9.
This also satisfies the relation Q - P =3.

So, the values of P and Q are 6 and 9 respectively.
