i=a+bsin(ωt)

By definition of rms value,
irms= T0i2 dtT
irms= T0[a2+b2sin2(ωt)+2absin(ωt)] dtT
irms= T0[a2+b2/2(1sin(2ωt))+2absin(ωt)] dtT
Average value of sin(ωt) and sin(2ωt) is 0 over a time period.
