Question

If a line makes angles α,β,γ with positive directions of X,Y,Z-axes, what is the value of sin2α + sin2β+ sin2γ?

Open in App
Solution

Given , A line make a angle α,β,χ, with x , y , z axis , then

let length of line be |r| x , y , z be the intercept mode by line on the three coordinates axis

So cosα=xrcosβ=yrcosχ=zr

cos2α+cos2β+cos2χ=r2r2

cos2α+cos2β+cos2χ=1

1sin2α+1sin2β+1sin2χ=1

sin2α+sin2β+sin2χ=2

so answer is 2
