If an atom has sub-atomic particles then why is atom said to be indivisible?

In was considered to be indivisible in the 18th and 19th century when the sub atomic particles were not discovered.
Nowadays after the discovery of electrons,protons and other sub atomic particles, it is considered to be divisible.
