Solution

The correct option is D x=2,y=6
Given, x+y82=x+2y143=3xy4

By taking first two. we get,
x+y82=x+2y143
3x+3y24=2x+4y28
xy=4 ......(i)
By taking last two. we get,
x+2y143=3xy4
4x+8y56=9x3y
5x11y=56 .....(ii)
On multiplying equation (i) by 5. we get,
5x5y=20 ....(iii)
On subtracting (ii) from (iii). we get,
5x5y(5x11y)=20(56)
6y=36
y=6
Substitute y=6 in (i). we get,
x6=4
x=2

x=2,y=6
