Question

If M is a set of non-positive integers from -100 to 0 and N is a set of perfect squares between  0 to 90, find the cardinality of M N.


Solution

M = {0, -1, -2, -3…….. -100}

n (M) = 101

N = {1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81}

n (N) = 9

M N = {}

n (M N) = 0

n(M N) = n(M) + n(N) – n(M N)

                  = 101 + 9 – 0

                  = 110
