Question

If percentage of profit made, when an article is sold for $$\mathrm{Rs.}\  78$$, is twice as when it is sold for $$\mathrm{Rs.}\  69$$, the cost price of the article is

A
Rs. 49
loader
B
Rs. 51
loader
C
Rs. 57
loader
D
Rs. 60
loader

Solution

The correct option is B $$\mathrm{Rs.}\  60$$
Let $$CP$$ be $$\mathrm{Rs.}\  x$$.
According to the question,
$$(78 - x) = 2(69 - x)$$
$$78 - x = 138 - 2x$$
$$\Rightarrow x = 138 - 78 = 60$$.
Hence, $$CP = \mathrm{Rs.}\  60$$.
