If $$\sec \theta  = \dfrac{{25}}{7},$$ then find the value of $$\tan\theta $$?


Solution

Given $$sec\theta =\dfrac{25}{7}=\dfrac{H}{B}$$

Using Pythagoras theorem

$$H^{2}=P^{2}+B^{2}$$

$$(25)^{2}=P^{2}+(7)^{2}$$.

$$625=P^{2}+49$$

$$P^{2}=625-49$$

$$P^{2}=576$$

$$P=\sqrt{576}$$

$$P= 24 cm$$

$$\therefore tan\theta =\dfrac{P}{B}=\dfrac{24}{7}$$
