Question

If Surface energy=Surface tension Then how are we getting the formula surface tension= surface energy/surface area?

Open in App
Solution

Surface Tension is "the Tension force per unit length of a surface".
so Surface Tension= F/L
and surface energy is ' the energy per unit area of surface"
so surface energy = Energy / area = E/ A ( you know energy = F*L and A = L*L)
so surface energy = E/ A = F*L/L*L = F/L = surface tension
