Question

# If $$T_1, T_2$$ and $$T_3$$ are the time periods of a given simple pendulum on the surface of the earth, at a depth $$h$$ in a mine and at an altitude $$h$$ above the earth's surface respectively, then

A
T1=T2=T3
B
T2<T1>T3
C
T2>T1<T3
D
T1>T2>T3

Solution

## The correct option is B $$T_2 > T_1 < T_3$$As  we go inside a mine $$g$$ decreases and also for height $$h$$ , $$g$$ decreases.as  $$T \alpha \dfrac{1}{\sqrt{g}}$$$$\therefore \ \ T_{2}>T_{1},$$   and   $$T_{3}>T_{1}$$. But  $$T_{2}>T_{3}$$  as change in $$g$$ for depth is more than that for height.$$\therefore T_{2}>T_{1}<T_{3}$$Physics
