Solution

The correct option is D Absorption of vitamin B12
Functions of Oxyntic/Parietal cells :
1)It secretes Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) which sterilizes the food and activates the inactive proteolytic enzymes secreted in the stomach.
2)HCl, convert the Ferric form of Iron (+3) to Ferrous form of iron (+2)-absorbable form.
3)It secretes Castle Intrinsic Factor - required for active absorption of Vitamin B12(Castle extrinsic factor) in intestine.
So, if Oxyntic cells of gastric glands are rendered non-functional then absorption of Vitamin B12 will be affected.
Thus, the Correct answer to the question is 'Absorption of vitamin B12'.
