Question

If the unit of force were kilonewton, that of time millisecond and that of power kilowatt, what would be the units of mass in kg ?


Solution

$$ [F] = [MLT^{-2}] $$ and $$\displaystyle  [P] = [ ML^2T^{-1}] \Rightarrow \frac {P} {F^2} = \frac {T^3} {M} \Rightarrow [M] = \frac {F^2T^3} {P} $$

Unit of mass = $$\displaystyle \frac {(10^3)^2 (10^{-3})^3 } {(10^3)} $$ = $$1kg$$
