In a square garden of 3.5 m, four flower beds were laid out as shown. The remaining area of the garden is 7.25 $m^2$. If all flower beds are of same size find length of each if the breadth of each flower bed is 50 cm.

Area of garden$=3.5\times 3.5$

$=12.25m²$

Area of leftover part$=7.25m²$

Let area of one flower bed be $x.$

Area of four equal flower beds=$4\times x$

$=4x$

Area of four equal flower beds$=(12.25-7.25)m²$

$=5.00m²$

So$,4x=5m²$

$x=5/4m²$

Now$,$ area of one flower bed $=x=5/4m²$

Breadth of one flower bed$=50cm$

$=50/100m$

$=0.5m$

Area of flower bed $=length\times breadth$

$=>5/4=length\times 0.5$

$1.25=length\times 0.5$

$Length=1.25/0.5$

$=2.5m$

Hence, this is the answer.
