Question

In a uniform magnetic field. If a rod moves then Emf is induced. But if a closed loop moves in a plane perpendicular to uniform magnetic field then Emf induced will be 0?

Solution

Dear student,

The Emf induced in a conductor moving with velocity v in a plane perpendicular to uniform MF (B) is given by,
e=-Bvl
Where, l is the distance between the two ends of the object.
In rod, l=Llength of the rod
So, Emf induced is non zero.
In closed loop, l=0
So, Emf induced is zero.
