Question

In figure, if OAB=40, then ACB is equal to ___.

  1. 50
  2. 40
  3. 70
  4. 60

Solution

The correct option is A 50
We have OA = OB = radius of the circle.
Since angles opposite to equal sides are equal, we have
OAB=OBA.
OBA=40
Now, using angle sum property in OAB, we have
OAB+OBA+AOB=180.
AOB=180(40+40)=100
Since the angle subtended by an arc at the centre of a circle is double the angle subtended by it on any remaining part of the circle,
 ACB=12AOB=50
