Question

In the Bryophyllum plant, after the bud grows into a new independent plant, will the buds grow again on the leaf?

Open in App
Solution

In Bryophyllum, the leaves bear leaf buds which originate along the leaf margins. The leaf buds gradually develop some roots called adventitious roots. When the leaves bearing these leaf buds fall down and the roots touch the soil, new and individual plants grow from the buds.

The new independent plant will also grow leaf buds on their leaves which are capable of growing into another new plant.
