Step 4: Finding the current through 8Ω resistor, before and after connecting E

Current in the circuit before connecting E,

I1=VReqI1=126+8+10I1=1224I1=0.5A

Current in the circuit after connecting E,

I2=0.5A(givenI1=I2)

Step 5: Finding the value of E

We know in a parallel combination, the potential difference is same in each branch.

Therefore, voltage through the 8Ω resistor is equal to the voltage through E
