Solution

The correct option is B $$0.98 N \times m$$
Given :       $$m = 0.5 kg$$                   $$L = 40 cm = 0.4  m$$
 Torque about suspension point     $$\tau = L F $$ $$sin\theta$$                      where $$\theta$$ is the angle between $$\vec{L}$$  and  $$\vec{F}$$
From figure,     $$\theta  =30^o$$
$$\implies$$    $$\tau = L (mg) sin 30^o  = 0.4 \times (0.5 \times 9.8 ) \times 0.5    =0.98$$   Nm
