Question

In the following question, relationship between different elements is shown in the statements, which are followed by two conclusions. Mark the appropriate option:

Statements:  A B = C, D > C= E
Conclusions:
I.  E  A
II. A < D

  1. Only conclusion II follows
  2. Either conclusion I or conclusion II follows
  3. Neither conclusion I nor II follows
  4. Both conclusion I and conclusion II follow
  5. Only conclusion I follows

Solution

The correct option is D Both conclusion I and conclusion II follow
On combining the two statements, we get
             A B = C = E < D
Conclusions:
I. E A (It follows because E  = C = B A)
II. D < A (It follows, because D > B A)
So, both conclusions follow.
