In the given figure, ΔABC∼ΔADE. If AE : EC = 4 : 7 and DE = 6.6 cm, then the length of BC is
18.15 cm
In the given figure,
ΔABC∼ΔADE
AE : EC = 4 : 7, DE = 6.6 cm, BC = ?
Draw AL⊥DE and AM⊥BC and AL = x cm
We shall find AM in terms of x.
Since ΔADE∼ΔABC, we have,
AEAC=DEBC
∴AEAC=AEAE+EC=44+7=411
∴DEBC=AEAC⇒411=6.6BC
⇒BC=6.6×114=36.32=18.15 cm
