Question

In the light reaction, as your video suggests that for the first instance, 2 protons 1NADPH and 1.3ATP are produced by splitting of 1 water molecule. However it is also told that 4 Mg binds with 4molecules of water. So if it is asked for 1 cycle in the exam, do we have to take in the consideration of 4 molecules of water and multiply the result of (2 protons 1NADPH and 1.3ATP) x4 or we have to consider only 1 water molecule per cycle?

Solution

In the exam if you are asked to write the results of cycle, you need to multiply the results with 4.
(2 protons 1NADPH and 1.3ATP) x4
Because in the complete cycle 4 Mg binds with 4 molecules of water.
