Open in App
Solution

Chlorine:

  1. The nutrients that are essential for the plant in lesser amounts are known as micronutrients and the nutrients that are required in larger amounts are macro-nutrients.
  2. Chlorine is mostly absorbed as Cl- in soil and plants. It is an essential micronutrient for plants as it participates in several physiological activities like stomatal regulation, transport of nutrients, activates several enzyme systems, etc..
  3. It is required for water-splitting during photosynthesis.
  4. It also helps in ionic balance of the cell.
