Question

is lift excluded from gravity in numericals of motion in one dimension

Solution

No gravity is not excluded.
We can see that gravity is included. In all cases of a lift
Case1: lift not moving
Normal reaction ,R= mg

Case 2:lift moving with constant velocity
R = mg

Lift moving up with acceleration a
R =m(g+a)

Case 4 : lift moving downwards with acceleration a
R = m(g-a)

Case 5 ; free fall
R= m(g-g) = 0
